Yes, Ketamine Played a Role- But Who Is Really Responsible for Matthew Perry’s Death? (Part 2)

Updated: Jan 10

So, when did things take a dark turn for Matthew Perry?

Per the U.S. District Attorney's office, in September of 2023, Dr. Salvador Plasencia of Santa Monica learned that Perry was interested in obtaining ketamine. After learning that Matthew Perry was interested in obtaining ketamine, Dr Plasencia contacted Dr. Mark Chavez of San Diego (who previously operated a ketamine clinic) to obtain ketamine to SELL to Perry. This is also what we would refer to as, “drug dealing”. In text messages to Dr. Chavez, Dr. Plasencia discussed how much to charge Perry for the ketamine and stated, “I wonder how much this moron will pay” and “Let’s find out”. Direct quotes.

During September and October of 2023, Dr. Plasencia distributed ketamine to Perry and Kenneth Iwamasa (Matthew Perry’s assistant) who repeatedly injected Perry with ketamine without medical training on several occasions, including on October 28,2023 which is the day that Perry died. Dr. Plasencia taught Kenneth Iwamasa (the assistant) how to inject Perry with ketamine, sold ketamine to Iwamasa to inject into Perry, left vials of ketamine with Iwamasa for self-administration, personally injected ketamine into Perry including once inside a parked car in a Long Beach parking lot and failing to monitor Perry after injection of the drug. Dr. Plasencia knew that Iwamasa had never received any medical training and knew little about injecting medications, especially controlled medications, into individuals.

Dr. Plasencia and Dr. Chavez conspired together about inventory, price, and availability of ketamine to sell to Perry and Iwamasa. Dr. Chavez even sold Dr. Plasencia ketamine lozenges that he obtained by writing a fraudulent prescription in another patient’s name without her knowledge or consent.

In October 2023, Mr. Iwamasa (the assistant) also started obtaining ketamine illegally from Eric Fleming and Jasveen Sangha “The Ketamine Queen” of North Hollywood. Jasveen Sangha has distributed ketamine and other drugs from her stash house in North Hollywood since 2019. In August 2019, Sangha (“The Ketamine Queen”) sold ketamine to a man named Cody Mclaury just hours before he also overdosed and died; however, she still continued selling ketamine from her stash house even after this man’s death.

One week before his death, Dr. Plasencia was informed that Perry’s ketamine addiction was spiraling out of control. However, he continued to sell Iwamasa (Perry’s assistant) the ketamine to give to Perry. On the day of his death, Perry was injected multiple times with ketamine. After Perry’s death, LA Police department searched Sangha’s residence and found 79 vials of ketamine, and 3.1 pounds of orange pills containing methamphetamine, mushrooms, illegal drugs, and prescription drugs.
